Vangeli Evangelopoulos, PhD is a lecturer in the Landscape Architecture Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA. His areas of concentration and interest are urban design and planning with a focus on place-making, smart growth, design process and theory. In class and studio he emphasizes development of analytical thinking and metaphors as important design tools. His Master’s degree is in Landscape Architecture from Kansas State University and his PhD is in Natural Resources with a minor in Environmental Psychology from the University of Arizona in Tucson. He is a member of EDRA, IAPS, the Landscape Character Network of Britain and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. His seven years of professional experience in Arizona included site planning, park and trail design, downtown planning, new urbanism developments, plant preservation, visual analysis and extensive experience with local governments.
