Jordan Chiang Participates in ASLA Spark Talks, October 2023

Cal Poly alum and LADAC member Jordan Chiang (top row, center) will be a speaker for ASLA's 6-week webinar series "Spark Talks: Quick Chats with Landscape Architecture Professionals." Specifically geared toward students, these short conversations introduce students to landscape architecture professionals with diverse career paths.

Jordan Chiang Contributes to ASLA Panel Discussion, June 2023

Cal Poly alum and LADAC member Jordan Chiang will be a panelist for ASLA's celebration of Pride Month - “Queer Emergence: An LGBTQIA+ Conversation in Landscape Architecture.” From the ASLA website:

"The intention of this panel session is to open discussion on greater queer representation in landscape architecture - understanding the strengths and challenges of being a queer professional, and how this can inform not only LGBTQIA+ individuals, but all landscape architectural professionals. Topics to be covered include “why did it take us so long,” “how are we presenting in our work,” “the importance of networking,” and “what’s next.” The panel will consist of five queer professionals in varying stages of their careers, and aims to capture a portion of the diverse experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals in landscape architecture."

This online event takes place Monday, June 12th, 2023 at 1pm EST

Martin Flores Recognized with City of San Diego Team

Cal Poly alum Martin Flores is a Landscape Architect and Park Designer for the City of San Diego. He is also a founding member of our Landscape Architecture Department Advisory Council (LADAC). Martin and his colleagues were recognized last year by the San Diego Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) with an Honor Award for their Parks Master Plan. Read more:

Vicki Estrada Named Vice Chair of California Arts Council

The California Arts Council elected members Chelo Montoya and Vicki Estrada to serve as Chair and Vice Chair of the Council, respectively, at a public meeting held on Thursday, December 8. Vicki Estrada (c. 1977) has lived in San Diego since 1955 and is president of Estrada Land Planning. She has 46 years of public and private practice experience and has been a registered Landscape Architect in California since 1977 with a B.S. in landscape architecture from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. She is also a musician with piano as her specialty. Her experience includes land planning, urban design and landscape architecture for a variety of projects, including community planning, master planned communities, infill, parks, and streetscapes.
