Student Resources

Dear Current and Prospective Students,

The Department of Landscape Architecture is dedicated to providing the highest quality professional educational experience. We recognize that the profession of Landscape Architecture is changing and calling on professionals to play a more active leadership role in designing and managing numerous aspects of our environment.

In 2023, landscape architecture received the important designation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a STEM discipline, recognizing the high degree of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics course work required in collegiate programs.

With Cal Poly's "Learn By Doing" educational approach, students develop the professional skills and knowledge needed to make valuable contributions to a changing global society.

With faculty commitment to excellence in teaching and the core values of the profession, Cal Poly students develop an appreciation for life-long learning and an interdisciplinary approach to landscape architectural design.

The Landscape Architecture Department is a great community to be part of and we encourage you to explore the many resources available to you at Cal Poly.

Sincerely,

Joseph Ragsdale, Department Head & Professor
