2019-20 DesignIntelligence Survey Ranks Cal Poly Landscape Architecture Program as the #1 Most Hired From

2019-20 Designintelligence rankings

The 2019-20 DesignIntelligence survey ranked Cal Poly's BLA program as the most hired from landscape architecture program in the nation. Also, out of twelve focus areas of landscape architecture, graduates placed first in six focus areas: construction materials and methods, engineering fundamentals, healthy built environments, practice management, sustainable built environments/adaptive design/resilient design, and transdisciplinary collaboration across A/E/C.

Additionally, both Department Head and Professor, Omar Faruque, and Associate Professor, David Watts, were ranked as this year's most admired educators. For the full story, please visit the link HERE.
 

Department Head, Omar Faruque, Receives 2019 Outstanding Alumni Award at Alma Mater - Texas A&M University

Texas A&M University - College of Architecture

Landscape Architecture Department Head, Omar Faruque, was honored by his alma mater, Texas A&M University, as a 2019 distinguished alumnus for his innovative design and planning, his book Graphic Communication as a Design Tool that documents his pioneering research on creative exploration for design, and his academic leadership at Cal Poly. The award is the highest honor the university bestows on former students.

2019 Cal Poly Honored Alumni Award

Kevin Conger, Landscape Architecture, 1988

The Honored Alumni Award is the highest honor bestowed upon Cal Poly alumni by the University’s Alumni Association. The award was established by the Association to provide recognition for outstanding graduates and former students of Cal Poly. Mr. Kevin Conger, President and Founding Partner of CMG Landscape Architecture, a 1988 graduate of our program, has been named the 2019 Honored Alumnus of the College of Architecture & Environmental Design. The award was established more than 50 years ago to provide recognition for outstanding graduates of Cal Poly. Last time a landscape architecture graduate of our program received this award was in 1992.

2019 Cal Poly Landscape Architecture Alumni Reception

At the Hilton San Diego Bayfront - Saturday, November 16th

To our alumni and friends, please join Cal Poly’s Landscape Architecture Department Head Omar Faruque and Dean Christine Theodoropoulos of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design on Saturday, November 16th, from 6 to 9 pm in San Diego. This will be a great opportunity to catch up on current events, network with your former classmates and to forge new friendships. 

This complimentary reception is hosted in the beautiful Hilton San Diego Bayfront, a short walk from the San Diego Convention Center where the ASLA Conference is being held. However, you do not need to be a participant in the conference to attend this event.
