Faculty Biography

Miran Jung Day holds her Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from Chonnam National University, South Korea and her Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has 15 years of professional experience as a landscape architect working on numerous projects domestically and internationally. Her representative built projects include 55 West, Orlando, Florida; St. Martin Radisson, St. Martin; and Bangbae Hyundai Apt. Complex 2-1 and 2-2, Seoul, South Korea, which received Landscape Architecture awards from the city of Seoul. She is a registered landscape architect in the state of Florida and South Korea, CLARB Certified Landscape Architect, and LEED AP BD+C.

Her teaching interests are natural system analysis, GIS, data visualization, program development, design implementation strategies, and design communications. She has taught regional planning and design studios at the undergraduate and graduate levels, GIS applications, and design communication media courses using hand and computer graphics. Her research interests are landscape hydrology, watershed study, and system and data visualization in design. She is currently working on the Bloomington watershed research project in Illinois dealing with water quality issues from a nonpoint source.

She is currently teaching natural environments design focus studio emphasizing understanding of natural environments and their design applications, and GIS application to design studio (ILC).
